Assembly Bill (AB) 144 (2025-26) gives CDPH authority to make immunization recommendations for California. Immunization standards for many laws changed from federal ACIP to CDPH recommendations. See CDPH Immunization Recommendations Under Assembly Bill 144 for more information about the bill’s implications for providers.
Schedules
CDPH recommends immunizations in accordance with AAP and AAFP immunization schedules.
Children and adolescents through age 18 years: AAP IZ Schedule (PDF)†
Adults age 19 years and older: AAFP Adult IZ Schedule
†For VFC providers, VFC resolutions are published on CDC’s Vaccines Provided by the VFC Program webpage and are based on ACIP recommendations. Click to explore additional guidance for following the AAP schedule in accordance with updated VFC Resolutions.
VFC providers are strongly encouraged to follow the AAP immunization schedule. Should VFC resolutions conflict with CDC/ACIP recommendations, the California VFC Program will issue vaccine-specific guidance that clarifies use of the AAP schedule in compliance with ACIP recommendations for VFC-eligible patients.

2026
Guidance on Combined Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV) Vaccine Recommendations and Coverage (PDF) February 5
CDPH continues to recommend either MMRV or separate MMR and varicella vaccines for children younger than 4 years. MMRV doses for ages younger than 4 years are covered by Medi-Cal. An updated VFC resolution reflecting contrasting ACIP recommendations states that VFC doses of MMRV are for VFC-eligible patients age 4–12 years.
